Вот только у меня есть пара знакомых, которые учили в школе немецкий, а теперь по аглицки шперхают не хуже меня...
И что с того?
А с того то, что чему вас там в школе учили не оправдение. Школа вообще дает лишь один полезный навык: умение учиться. Если вы этот навык не усвоили, или после школы/универа сразу же просрали, тут уж пеняйте на себя.
А вообще без знания английского невозможно следить за новостями вахи и поспевать за изменениями бэка, так что кто не знает, тот сам виноват.
