Koresh Squad was typical of this development in tactics, favoring mass use of combi-plasma to efficiently and spectacularly slay their former brothers in arms without regard for collateral damage or self-inflicted casualties from their temperamental weaponry. Over the course of several running engagements in a thrust to the galactic core, Koresh Squad was involved in the destruction of a Warhound Titan and the outright massacre of Iron Hands survivors fighting a desperate rearguard to assist in the evacuation of civilian populations. As word of their dark deeds grew and spread, they found themselves the beneficiaries of Maloghurst’s favor, never wanting for plasma cells or new eager recruits to keep the squad at full capacity. Koresh Squad was known to be at the Siege of Terra but their ultimate fate is unknown. Some in the Ordo Malleus have said that Khornate-affiliated Black Legion veterans frequently observed as part of the forces of Abaddon’s Black Crusades match remembrancer illustrations of Koresh Squad members, but most credible scholars of the Chaos Legions disregard this theory as merely the fanciful projection of the conspiracy-minded.
