They contained far less augmentations and were generally deprived of higher thinking patterns than modern skitarii, but most Imperial historians would agree that the Tech 'Thrall was a prototype of the Machine God’s blesed warriors. 32ND MILLENIUM SKITARII (THALLAX) The Dark Fate of Vheinos is what is considered by many to be the turning point between the mechanicum s use of Tech-Thralls and a newer, more loyal soldier. The Thallax embodies many of the principles that would be used in skitarii creation for the next 8 millenia, excluding the full body exo-skeleton which is now considered to be a design flaw. 33RD MILLENIUM SKITARII CSECUTARII) Mechanicus no longer uses tech-thralls but instead utilize the secutarii, the first ancestors of the modern skitarii. Lazguns are utilized, as at this point, the secutarii are essentially imperial guardsmen but for the Mechanicus. Like the Thallax, however, the exterior of the body is far more augmented with big, bulk\r tech than later slimmer Skitarii. 34TH MILLENIUM SKITARII (ELECTRITE) Secutarii are slowly but surely rebranded as “Skitarius” as the Mechanicus makes a push to bolster their collective effectiveness. Most Forge Worlds ditch Lazguns and equip specialized stubbers with rounds that are electrostatically charged to insane degrees. This was due to a growing Cult, that would later be known as the Corpuscarii, pushing for more opportunities for the enemies of mankind to experience the full blunt of the Motive Force. The predecessor of the Fulgrites, on the other hand, pushed for melee-focused electro-combat, which would eventually lead to the creation of Taser Goads. 35TH MILLENIUM SKITARII (Western “cYclops" skitarus) During the great Schizm of the Impcrium, there began a great difference in cultures between those in the West and those in the East. Western Mechanicus typically tended towards less human-augmentations, leading to the infamous “Cyclops” Skitarii design whose glowing blue eyes inspired generations of skitarii designs to come. The Eastern Mechanicus preferred to hide their augmentations by designing them to closely resemble the human form. This led to their skitarius being referred to as “Mannequin-men” do to their unnerving plastic-like appearance. Eventually the two sides would rejoin and future skitarius would share more traits from the Cyclops than the Mannequin Men. 36,000 ("GRAVEBORN" SKITARUS) Reeling back from the fallout of the Twin Empires, the Mechanicus must cut costs in order to continue the war effort. Equipment becomes more simplified and less zealous. More streamline; conversative designs of helmets based off of 33rd millennium schematics became for mainstream again. Ash became a common armor stain. 37,000 37,550 38,335 38,000 39,785 39,000 40,009 40,000 41,000 37ТН MILLENIUM SKITARII ("TOMBGUARD" SKITARII) Though a short lived fad as far as design goes, the classic “Tombguard” Skitarii remains iconic of its time; when the rising power of the Ecclcsiarch and the need to distance themselves from the apostates of the last age, the Mechanicus goes overboard in terms of zealous symbolism. This design was eventually dropped due to the impracticality of the ornate designs and excessive use of power for the electric abilities; a feature which had at once thought to be a strength turned out to be a weakness. 3ÔTH MILLENIUM SKITARII ("SHADOW6EAR" SKITARII) With the major anxiety of the millenium being the Silica Animus, the mechanicus push hard to return to the “roots” of the Skitarii. Designs of the Secutarii are dug back up, and new Skitarii are designed based on an updated version. Eventually, this new design would be allocated to a new kind of soldier in the Skitarii ranks; the Vanguard. At this time, however, it Vanguards and Rangers are indistinguishable. 39TH MILLENIUM SKITARII ("HEAVY BURDEN" SKITARII) At once thought to be the end times of the Imperium, the Waning was a period of hurried preparation for coming threats. Normal foot soldiers were outfitted in stronger armor. There was little indication in the coming wars that this increase in protection truely mitigated loses. 4QTH MILLENIUM SKITARII ("RANGER" SKITARII) In this time of longing for a golden age that never truely was, Skitarii appearances became more “vintage” and resemble the combined aesthetics of several older models with a new “ornate” finish. Underneath the armor, however, the augmentations are of a generally higher sophistication than that of 31st century Tech-Thralls. Despite all odds, the Skitarii design has managed to grow and improve within a stagnant and stiff culture. Though it did take 10,000 years of standard time. 'VJ?
